2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

If you are attending, you must call by Wednesday at 4 p.m. to confirm. We are pleased to be starting a new session to help give our customers in need of help, as well as beginners - so pass the word along, some personal attention and instruction.

Bring in your questions and problems for some undivided attention. If you are new to knitting and want to know how to bind off your scarf, just finished a sweater and want some guidance in finishing it, are stuck right in the middle of your project or need help mastering a required technique to continue your project then this is a must!!!

Monthly Knitting Meetings

Monthly Knitting Meetings take place on the first Thursday of every month. (unless otherwise noted)

New Pathways for Sock Knitters  - Session 2 starting soon!

There has been a lot of buzz about Cat Bordhi’s latest sock book.  Until Cat started playing with socks, knitters were only able to choose between toe-up or cuff-down and between tuned heel or short row heel.  With the publication of New Pathways for Sock Knitters, Cat has added eight new sock architectures to the mix.  There are examples of three architectures at the shop to amaze and inspire.

We are offering a series of four classes for sock knitters who are interested in experimenting with these new designs.  The first two classes are built around knitting the learning socks from the first chapter of the book, but they will also send you off ready to knit your own pair of socks.  The last two classes are still open.  We are waiting to see where the new pathways will lead us.

  1. Note: Students must have knitted at least one sock to be able to sign up for the class. Students may choose to knit with double pointed needles, with two circular needles or with one long circular needle (Magic Loop).

With cold weather setting its sites on us in the near future why not chase away the chills by knitting a beautiful throw.  The yarn we will be using is a kettle dyed yarn from Uruguay.  “Manos” is handspun and dyed by a cooperative formed in 1967 to provide work for women in the rural villages of Uruguay.
This yarn is 100% wool and spun from Merino and Corriedale sheep’s wool.  I have loved knitting with Manos over the years and I know you will love too!

The design we will be knitting is in a book entitled “Reflections and Shadows.”  We will all be knitting the same throw in the same color way.  The color way combines different shades of green and rich pinks.  Please see the swatch pictured below.  This swatch is to show you the color only.

We will meet at Yarns Down Under and knit while enjoying the company of fellow knitters.  This project is easy enough to allow us to actually talk and knit.

We will meet beginning Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 pm.  You may pick up your yarn kit at that time.  We will be using #9 needles (straight or circular) or size required to achieve gauge and Crochet Hook H.
